INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY DEMANDS MR GORBACHEV’S PROSECUTION

As we have informed earlier, http://www.january20.net web-portal has conducted survey dedicated to the issue of prosecution of Mr Gorbachov in the International Court for the January 20 crime. Respondents were asked the following question: “Do you think that Gorbachev should account for the January 20 crime as a perpetrator?” The answers were “yes” and “no”. It is necessary to point out, that in order to ensure transparency of the voting, same computer was allowed to vote only once. Internet users showed the great interest to the voting lasted 15 days, and 18776 people have taken part in the poling. 92% of participants, ie. 17,184 users gave “yes ” answers, while only 8%, ie 1,592 - “no”. 73% of voters are citizens of the post-Soviet republics, including Azerbaijan. 9% of voters are from the US, 7% - from Turkey, and 11% - from European countries.

On February 11 and 13, several hacking attack attempts were made in order to spoil transparency and fairness of the voting. Although these attacks have not resulted in hackers’ favour, the web site was not operating during some period. Investigations show that these attacks were made from Armenia, Russia, and the US.

The voting results have demonstrated once again that Mr Gorbachev as culprit of January 20 tragedy, has lost his respect in the international arena. Representatives of Azeri and other former-Soviet people suffered of Gorbachev terror, through emails sent to the web site’s email address, have demanded prosecution of Mr Gorbachev in the International Court and withdrawal of the Nobel Prize of Peace.

The web site launching the voting was produced by the “Sahil” Information and Research Centre. Currently, public opinion study via Internet is considered as the most popular and effective survey method. Sahil IRC also plans to conduct surveys concerning other important topics.
